The film follows a young Furiosa who is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and taken to the Citadel by Immortan Joe's War Boys. Furiosa escapes and joins forces with Max Rockatansky, a lone warrior who is also trying to escape from the Citadel.

The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the Earth has been ravaged by nuclear war. The remaining survivors are struggling to survive in a world where there is no law and order.
